November Teacher of the Month: Brittany

We could not possibly be MORE excited to spotlight Brittany, a passionate and inspiring member of the Twisted Grit Yoga fam! From her journey into yoga to her insights on life, Brittany’s dedication to creating a welcoming, empowering space is truly special.✨ Here’s a closer look at Brittany’s story and the beautiful wisdom she shares with the TGY community:

What Makes Twisted Grit Yoga Special?

For Brittany, Twisted Grit Yoga is a sanctuary where every body is celebrated, diversity is embraced, and everyone is supported on their journey–wherever they’re headed. Brittany shared, “The people I meet and the students I get to serve are what make this safe space so special to me. It’s an honor to make everyone feel included and remove the pressure of society’s ideals or what yoga is ‘supposed to look like.’” Brittany’s commitment to inclusion and community helps make TGY feel like home for so many.

Brittany’s Journey to Becoming a Yoga Instructor

Brittany completed her RYT 200 in April and joined TGY as a teacher in May of 2024–she wasted no time diving in! But yoga has been part of her life’s rhythm long before then, helping her navigate life’s ups and downs. When asked what inspired her to teach, she said, “I wanted to help and serve others on a more personal and spiritual level. My spirit literally called me to enroll, and here I am.” 🪷

She credits her practice with grounding her through personal challenges, including grief. As a grief support specialist, Brittany has developed what she calls “The SoYo Movement,” a unique somatic yoga practice that combines yoga with self-expression to release tension and trauma. Her goal is to support others on their own healing journeys by tapping into the therapeutic power of breath, embodiment, and inner strength. If you’ve ever taken a slow flow class or attended a sound bath led by Brittany, you’ve probably experienced the power of her teaching firsthand.

Beyond the Mat: Brittany’s Passions and Hobbies

When she’s not teaching, you’ll find Brittany soaking up the natural world, whether it’s near water or out on the trails. She loves live music, experimenting with recipes, and spending time around campfires. Adventuring and being outdoors energize her, and she embraces any chance to hike, kayak, bike, or dance with friends. “Adventure?! Count me in!” she says. And through it all, connecting with her faith is a deeply grounding part of her life.

Brittany’s Teaching Style and Wisdom for the TGY Community

Brittany’s teaching style is rooted in making her students feel “unpressured, safe, and welcome.” Her classes are designed to “activate inner strength and enhance relaxation,” and she hopes each student leaves with a sense of peace and support. Brittany encourages everyone to tap into their strength and resilience, empowering them to find moments of calm and clarity. 💪 🧠 💙

What Makes Brittany Unique as an Instructor?

Brittany’s background in therapeutic coping, healthcare, and child development makes her classes distinctive. “I believe we can all use a little more tenderness and play in life,” she explains, highlighting her commitment to creating a nurturing environment where students can reconnect with themselves. For Brittany, this job is more than work—it’s a calling that leaves her feeling “more fulfilled than when I arrive.”

Brittany’s Invitation to Newcomers at TGY

To anyone considering trying a class at Twisted Grit Yoga, Brittany’s advice is simple: “Just do it! Come to my class 🙂 it’s a chill space to enjoy, hopefully meet someone new, and just do something good for yourself. You deserve it!” Brittany’s enthusiasm and warmth make her classes a welcoming experience for all.

We’re beyond thrilled to have Brittany as part of our community and are grateful for her dedication to creating a safe, uplifting space.
