Practicing yoga under the warmth of our infrared panels is great, but what about practicing yoga under the natural warmth and of the sun, surrounded by nature?!

TGY is hosting outdoor yoga classes all summer long at the beautiful Elmer and Edna Culver Wetlands Conservancy (just an 8-minute drive North of the TGY studio). Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or just starting out, practicing yoga outdoors can bring a whole new dimension to your routine.

Here’s why you should roll out your mat and join us under the open sky this summer:

1. Connect with Nature

Imagine this: You’re in the middle of a pose, eyes closed, breathing deeply, and instead of the hum of the air conditioner, you hear birds chirping and leaves rustling. Practicing yoga in nature helps you feel more connected to the earth and more mindful of the world around you. The natural beauty of the conservancy enhances your yoga experience, making each session a mini-retreat.

2. Boost Your Mood

Sunshine is a natural mood booster! When you practice yoga outdoors, you get a healthy dose of Vitamin D, which can improve your mood and energy levels. The combination of physical activity, fresh air, and sunshine works wonders for mental health. Say goodbye to stress and hello to a happier, more relaxed you.

3. Breathe Fresh Air

One of the core elements of yoga is mindful breathing, and there’s no better place to practice this than outdoors. The fresh, clean air in the conservancy invigorates your senses and enhances your breathing exercises. Each breath feels more refreshing and revitalizing, helping you deepen your practice and clear your mind.

4. Improve Balance and Stability

Practicing on uneven ground, like grass or a sandy patch, can challenge your balance and engage different muscles than a flat studio floor. This can help improve your overall stability and strength, making your practice even more effective. Plus, it’s a fun way to mix things up and keep your body guessing!

5. Experience New Sounds and Sights

The conservancy park offers a sensory experience that a studio simply can’t replicate. The sights, sounds, and even the smells of nature add an extra layer of relaxation and joy to your practice. You’ll find yourself more present in the moment, appreciating the beauty around you and letting go of daily distractions.

6. Socialize and Build Community

Our outdoor classes are a fantastic way to meet new people and make friends. There’s something about practicing together in a beautiful setting that brings people closer. You’ll find a supportive community of like-minded individuals who share your love for yoga and the great outdoors. We love our TGY community!

7. Feel Grounded and Empowered

Standing barefoot on the grass, feeling the earth beneath your feet, can be incredibly grounding. This connection to the earth can enhance your yoga practice, making you feel more rooted and centered. It’s a powerful way to reconnect with yourself and the world around you.
